On 8 November 2018, King Kong made his transition from the big screen to the Broadway stage. The role of the giant gorilla is played by a one-tonne robot, which stands at six metres tall over the other characters. On 15 October 2005, King Kong Chiello made his Juventus bow. A similarly imposing defender, Chiellini also stands tall over his opponents. The captain has won his eighth Scudetto title.

Before taking to the stage, there’s a smile across his face which says it all: focus, calm and confidence in his ability as one of the great defenders.

One of the differences between football and theatre is that roles can be swapped. Out on the field, the captain can applaud and cheer on his team-mates. A leading actor cannot do the same.

Fiorentina 0-3 Juventus was a stage for an unlikely scene. Not a Juventus victory – that’s a storyline we’re rather used to. If Chiellini gets on the score-sheet, you expect it to be with his head or trusty left boot. This time it was a beautiful, unstoppable right-foot volley.
