Five facts for Juve-Chievo!

The Serie A matches between Juventus and Chievo all belong to the new millennium, as the Gialloblu's presence in Serie A has only been since the turn of the century, although now becoming an almost ever-present. The first official match between the two dates back to 31 August 1994 in the Coppa Italia.

1. THE FIRST TIME IN SERIE A

The first Juventus-Chievo really was a historic game. Not only because it was the first time that Chievo faced Juve in the league, but also there were particular circumstances surrounding the fixture, as it was played on 15 September 2001, just four days after the tragedy that shocked the United States and the whole world, remembered with emotion by the Delle Alpi crowd.

Chievo arrived in Turin as surprise Serie A leaders, thanks to two wins in the first two games, and after 20 minutes they would believe that third could be possible after a double from Massimo Marazzina. However, in true Fino Alla Fine fashion, Juventus mounted a sensational comeback, with Alessio Tacchinardi, Igor Tudor, and finally Marcelo Salas turning the game around for Juve to win 3-2.

2. OPPOSITION HAT-TRICKS

There have been two hat-tricks scored against the Bianconeri by Chievo players in Turin, but on both occasions the Flying Donkeys have failed to come away with three points.

Firstly, Oliver Bierhoff scored three on the final day of the 2002-03 season, but it was to be in-vein on the German's final appearance of his career, with goals from Marcelo Zalayeta at the double, David Trezeguet and a winner from Cristian Zenoni sealing a thrilling 4-3 win.

However, Chievo's current captain and record appearance holder, Sergio Pellissier was slightly luckier when in 2008-09, his three goals saw the away side snatch a point in another exciting game, as the two sides drew 3-3 at the Olimpico.

3. ANOTHER MONDAY NIGHT MEETING

Juventus-Chievo on Monday night will open the second phase of the Serie A championship. However, this has already happened once, during Massimiliano Allegri's first season in Turin. In 2015 the Bianconeri won 2-0 after Paul Pogba and Stephan Lichtsteiner scored the goals in Juve's journey towards Scudetto 33.

4. HEADING FOR VICTORY

There are two Turin challenges between Juventus and Chievo that have begun the championship, with a strange coincidence occurrence in both. Juve won two opening editions vs the Flying Donkeys a goal to nil with a header from a striker - David Trezeguet in 2005-06 and Vincenzo Iaquinta four years later in 2009-10.

5. DYBALA NETS IN 3RD GAME

The last goal in Juventus-Chievo last year, that was the third matchday for the Bianconeri was scored by Paulo Dybala, who netted a sublime strike in a 3-0 win. La Joya's first-ever goal at Allianz Stadium would also take place on Matchday Three in Serie A, with Dybala netting from the spot in the 2015-16 season in a 1-1 draw.
